1/31/05 Monday
I just met with Dr Joyce and was pleased to see how pleased she was with the reduction in the tumor in my neck. At best
estimate the reduction there should mean a reduction in the newly discovered tumors in my liver. This round of chemo has pretty
much run its course exept the prednisone (steriod). I have always tolerated chemo well until the prednisone wears out and
then my conditon gets worse in a hurry. The unexplained fevers, general lousy feel etc. At least we have come to expect this.
She has ordered a slow reduction in steriods to try to make this negative onset a little slower and more manageable / tolerable.
She also touched base as to the next step, which is always sure to change. We will watch and see how I recover from this
treatment. Hopefully I will be fully recovered by Saturday / Sunday. Then she will send me home for a few days to get some
needed hometime/ rest, only to bring me back and have this treatment done again only this time they will add the 1 chemo drug
they couldn't give me while doing radiation. Then when I am recovered from that and hopefully in remission they will start
the stemcell transplant..
I only have 4 days left of radiation thank god. The Dr's are still surprised to see no sign of external burning after
18 days of treatment, but on the inside of my nose the pain is almost unbearable it feels like road rash. They have me on
pain meds but nothing is working on the localized pain.
